Over 300 Ill After Eating at Olive Garden, Indianapolis

Health officials said on Friday that more than 300 people reported ill and at least three were hospitalized, after eating at an Olive Garden restaurant at Indianapolis last weekend, a day after the declaration on the outbreak of E.coli at Taco Bell restaurants.

The restaurant is closed temporarily and health officials along with the company are investigating on the cause.

Leftover food and stool samples were collected from those stricken for finding out the source of the illness. The investigators said that it would take at least 48 hours for them to report on the test results.

A company spokesman said that the customers were complaining about symptoms of nausea, vomiting, fever and diarrhea.

This becomes the third U.S news on the widespread customer illnesses linked with restaurants around the country.

However, no spokesmen for Darden Restaurants Inc., parent company of Olive Garden, were available immediately to comment on this issue.

The week before christmas?? do you KNOW how screwed my money is?? my FAMILY works at OG, and I dont know if we can survive an E. Coli scare. I'm a double today, and I bet we are a ghost town. shit....

Corporate is saying that it's a flu bug brought in by a employee... right... 300 people on one flu bug?? I doubt it. plenty of flu bugs at my store before, never an outbreak of 300 people....

son of a.... I'm sooooo screwed for christmas.... I wonder if this qualifies for Darden Dimes???

ORLANDO, Fla. – We are working closely with the local health department in Castleton, Indiana to try to identify the source of this reported illness and will temporarily close the restaurant to give the health department a better opportunity to investigate this matter that may be tied to employees that recently had flu-like symptoms.

This is an isolated incident. There have been no related incidents reported at any other Olive Garden in the market or elsewhere

a few servers heard about it before work last night, shortly after our manager passed around an e-mail that was sent to them.

we were busy as hell. and they showed the news story on our local news, so either not many people caught it, or they have the brains enough to hear it when they said isolated!!

Yeah, we were still slammed all night, so i guess people arent too afraid. The one comfort about this is that Darden is all over it. It seems that we work for a company that is welol versed in damage control. Cant wait for the official report on monday. Taco Hell had 71 ppl get sick, and they shut down 12 stores, we have 300 sick, and so what?? LOL
